Hello Everyone

I hope you’re all keeping safe and well.

Thanks to everyone who has renewed their membership for 2025/26. I particularly appreciate the effort that many people have made, and are making, to collect their cards from the range rather than have them posted. This saves us a lot of time and, as yet, we have no instances of missing or stolen cards.

Their are still one or two late renewals trickling in. At the end of the month I have to submit a list of all former members who hold FACs and have not renewed their membership to the firearms department. If known, I will add a brief explanation as to why the renewal has not happened. It is important to note that the department usually act pretty quickly once they get the list, so if you do intend to renew and haven’t done so yet, get a move on!

This Saturday is the June guest day; usual T&Cs apply, see the website if you need more info.

A bit of info about range maintenance. Pat looks after the sand on the backstop, raking it every week to keep it tidy and safe for shooting. This is an important job and many members are probably completely unaware that it happens, but we’d soon have problems if it wasn’t done. We need the sand refreshing occasionally, as it gets worn down by constant bullet strikes and has to be topped up or replaced to keep its effectiveness. Neil, our groundsman, is in the process of sorting this. If anyone happens to have a few tons of concrete sand going spare, perhaps they could let us know…! It’s possible the range may have to close for a day or two whilst the sand is sorted, but plenty of notice will be given if that proves necessary.

Best regards for now
