Hello Everyone
I hope you’re all keeping safe and well.
You may have noticed that I’ve dated this update. This is because each one feeds into the website and unless there’s a date it’s hard to tell one from another. So dates on each update will be standard practice from now on.
We are ‘mopping up’ the last of the renewals at the moment. At the end of this month, I will be sending a list to the firearms department of club members who hold FACs and have not renewed. This is a statutory duty so if you’re reading this and still haven’t renewed, please bear it in mind.
I know that ‘range maintenance’ isn’t the most exciting topic, but it’s helpful if everyone has an idea of what’s happening in this area. Our current priorities are getting both the fencing down the left side of the range and the cladding on top of the sand coated with a new layer of preservative. This is a big job but we have it in hand. We should be able to do it without any range closure being necessary.
A Bisley Day is the next priority. I’ll do some checking and hopefully have a proposed date in the next update. I’m also considering a monthly 100m session on Saturday mornings, starting after the 25m session finishes, i.e. about 11.30. This will give an opportunity to members who can’t make the Friday morning sessions to have a go at the longer range and try the 100m competition if they want to. If anyone would be interested in giving this a go, please let me know.
Finally, I have already mentioned the amount of work Tis, my wife, has put into the new membership card scheme this year. it was proposed by one of our senior members last week that I take her for a meal out, courtesy of the club. This was immediately seconded by another. This is a great gesture but I want to make everyone aware of it, in case anyone has any objection to club money being spent on this. It would be a ‘one off’ event because now the system is set up the major work has been done. If anyone objects, I’ll take her anyway and pay myself!
Best regards
