Hello Again Everyone

I hope you’re all safe and well.

Apologies for sending you yet another update, but there is a lot going on at the moment.

Firstly, thanks to all concerned for the excellent guest day and barbecue we had last Saturday. Julie and Rob did us proud, and Martin slaving over his cauldron to produce that wonderful goulash was a real bonus. We are fortunate as a club to have members like these who put in the work they do. There was also a good turnout of members and guests, and a few random visitors who turned up to have a look at the range and ended up having a burger as well. I had to explain to them that this doesn’t happen every week! As was the case last time, we received very generous donations which, combined with the guest fees, more than covered the costs involved.

A further success on the day was the table sale of Dave’s stuff. This raised just under £500 which I have already passed on to his wife Janet. I also refunded his membership fee for the year, seeing as he passed before he could take advantage of it. Thanks to everyone who stumped up their cash to support the sale.

I have attached the results of the Summer 25m Competitions. Well done to everyone who took the trouble to enter and improve their shooting skills. It was interesting to look at the scores over the year and see how many people have improved and by how much. I did actually issue some ‘Improvers’ badges this time to those who had made the most progress. At the moment, my intention is to carry on with the same format into 2025/6, but if anyone has any other suggestions or ideas, please let me know.

Next, a reminder about the corporate day on Friday 19th September. We could still use one or two more volunteers to help out on the day. Someone with a nice 22 semi auto would be good (ammo will be provided) but anything else would do. Richard and Ang Y are running the event; if you can help please contact them directly on richardyates999 or angelayates999 We do make some money from this event but its main virtue is the good relations it maintains between ourselves and the Shooting Ground. The sessions we’ve done over the last two years have been very successful.

Finally, there will definitely be a club Christmas bash this year. It will be at The Swan in Kibworth, which is a more accessible than the venue last year, and more details will be following shortly.

Best regards
