Hello Everyone

I hope you’re all keeping safe and well.

First thing to mention this time is that the ground is now dry enough for us to resume on-range parking. Obviously this may change if we have an April monsoon like last year, but let’s hope not.

Second, a reminder about the proposed BBQ at the range on Saturday 19th April. If you would be interested in attending, please let Julie know on julie.napier02. Obviously, time is passing and the middle of April is suddenly not that far away. It would be good if we could get sufficient interest to make a go of this event, so please give it some thought.

Third, we have a continuing issue with mistreatment of the club guns. In particular, scopes being altered without any consultation with the RO. This is likely being done by the same person who clearly unsure about what they are doing and who is putting extreme windage on perfectly well sighted scopes. This has led to actual damage in the past and is certainly very inconvenient to anyone trying to use the gun after this person has finished with it. If you are using a scoped club rifle it will be pretty well in zero. If it isn’t, then it’s unlikely to be the fault of the gun. Ask the RO for assistance please and don’t resort to DIY.

Next, a competition update. The Spring 25m comps are now under way – I’ve already had three sets of cards handed in – and you have until the end of May to shoot them. Cards can be obtained from the RO of the day. Remember that the benchrest comp has been reduced to four cards to give more time to do them. Also, the 100m comp starts in April; cards can be obtained from me. You shoot two per month, with the best one counting. The comp runs until November.

Finally, I’ll be talking about membership renewals in my next update. An early bit of good news is that there will be no increase in the membership fee.

Best regards
