Hello Everyone

I hope you’re all keeping safe and well.

Now that the fuss of renewals is out of the way, we can start to focus on other things.

The 25m competitions are the main subject here. I posted the results in the last update, but the time has come to review these after running them for nearly two years now. The initial supply of badges is almost done, as is the number of targets. Having listened to various suggestions, some changes are in hand.

The off-hand scoped comp has always been the best supported and will continue as before. I have already ordered a new supply of targets and these will be available at the range by the end of next week. The rules are the same – six cards to be shot with the best five to count. Shooting is off-elbow with only a sling being allowed as extra support. Cards to be in by the end of September.

The iron-sighted and benchrest comps have not been well enough supported to make their continuation in their present form worthwhile. The main problem seems to be that the targets are simply too difficult for most members to see properly, and I can personally sympathise with this view. However, rather than abandon the competitions altogether, we will carry on but with different and hopefully more visible targets. These have yet to be finalised but will be soon and I’ll obviously keep you posted. There is also a suggestion of a ‘novices’ comp, only open to members who have not featured in the medals table before. This is a good idea in principle but it would be helpful if someone else could take the responsibility for organising it!

We’re now in holiday season so best wishes to all who are jetting off anywhere over the next few weeks. I had a great week cruising Italy but the temperatures were sky-high. Nice for sitting by the pool though.

Best regards for now
